The Common Application, commonly known as the Common App, is an online college application platform used by more than 1,000 colleges and universities across the United States and around the world. It allows students to complete one application and submit it to multiple schools, simplifying the college admissions process. Through the Common App, students can provide academic information, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation while tracking important deadlines and application requirements.

Completing the Common App
The following video from Common App provides a step-by-step walkthrough of the application process for first-year students. Although the video was created for the 2025–2026 application cycle, the information remains highly relevant, as the overall structure of the Common App and many of its core features have changed very little. Students should use this resource to become familiar with the platform, understand the different sections of the application, and begin preparing the materials needed to apply to college.
What Do I
Need?
