AP Capstone Diploma
AP Capstone is an innovative, college-level program designed to develop students’ research, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills. Through AP Seminar and AP Research, students explore complex topics, analyze diverse perspectives, conduct independent research, and create evidence-based arguments. The AP Capstone Diploma is awarded to students who successfully complete both courses along with a selection of additional AP courses, providing valuable preparation for college-level coursework and future academic success.
AP Capstone Diploma
The AP Capstone Diploma is a prestigious College Board program that develops students’ abilities in research, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Rather than focusing on one specific subject area, AP Capstone helps students build the skills needed to analyze information, evaluate perspectives, conduct research, and create evidence-based arguments across disciplines.
To earn the AP Capstone Diploma, students must successfully complete AP Seminar and AP Research, as well as earn a score of 3 or higher on both AP Exams. In addition, students must complete four additional AP courses of their choice and earn a score of 3 or higher on each AP Exam.
Students who complete AP Seminar and AP Research but do not complete the additional AP course requirements may earn the AP Seminar and Research Certificate. The AP Capstone program provides students with valuable college-level skills and prepares them for success in higher education and beyond.
The AP Capstone Diploma can provide students with an additional pathway to meet the academic award requirement for the Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) Bright Futures Scholarship.Students pursuing the AP Capstone pathway should continue to monitor all Bright Futures eligibility requirements, including GPA, service/work requirements, and any additional scholarship criteria.
